At AFRICAN BUSH TRAINING, our purpose is to train enthusiastic and ethical field guides in the world famous Kruger National Park and the majestic Letaba Ranch Game Reserve; both located in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. With the guidance and care of our experienced instructors - we aim to help develop students into confident and knowledgeable ambassadors for wildlife conservation in Africa.

All our guiding courses are fully accredited by the FIELD GUIDE ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHERN AFRICA (FGASA) and CATHSSETA (Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality & Sport Sector Education Training Authority)...

 COURSE OPTIONS: 

APPRENTICE FIELD GUIDE COURSE (NQF2)

DURATION:  60 Days Full-time

The FGASA Apprentice Nature Guide Qualification is the most sought after qualification required by the guiding industry for employment. 

The FGASA Apprentice Field Guide Course also includes the CATHSSETA Nature Site Guide qualification, which is the minimum requirement for guides to register as legal nature guides in South Africa. Beyond Southern Africa’s borders, the higher standard of the FGASA qualification also enjoys recognition in many other countries on and off the African Continent.

Introduction to nature Guiding, Geology, Ecology, Astronomy, Weather & Climate, Botany, Mammals, Taxonomy, Animal behaviour, Birds & Birding, Freshwater Fish, Reptiles, Arthropods, Conservation Management, Amphibians, Early Human Habitation, And much more...

ADVANCED BUSH SKILLS (FGASA PREP) COURSE

DURATION: 3 Weeks Full-time

The ADVANCED BUSH SKILLS COURSE has been designed with the serious nature lover in mind… This action packed 21-Day course is ideal for nature enthusiasts who simply wishes to improve their own knowledge and understanding of the bush.

The course is aimed at those who are looking for a more in-depth bush experience, but who does not necessarily want to do a career orientated course or become a Nature Guide as such. (However, the course can also be used to great effect in preparation for the FGASA Field Guide Practical Assessment...)

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION COURSE

DURATION: 3 Weeks Full-time

This course will teach you the principles of Environmental Education in practice and equip you with all the necessary tools, knowledge and skills you will need to confidently apply your Environmental Education initiatives in your own environment and make a ‘real’ difference in conservation and the preservation of our most valuable natural resources…

On completion of the course you will be able to design, plan, implement, facilitate and evaluate on a variety of environmental learning programmes.

With this course students will be equipped to making meaningful contributions to environmental change through educational responses to environmental issues and risks in a range of different contexts and workplaces. They may also be able to function as teachers` aides or environmental education specialists in formal education settings like schools.
